HT Systems is an integral part of Haztrain that focuses on Engineering Research and Development of Hardware, Software, and Management Systems and associated Logistics. Current projects and interests include development and deployment of armored vehicle kits to US Special Operations forces worldwide, communications and location management systems for first responders, and cellular phone technology-based community emergency management software.
SPOTLIGHT ON FIVAK
Military personnel and VIPs are frequently required to travel in civilian vehicles to remain as inconspicuous as possible when conducting missions in theater. Because civilian vehicles offer practically no protection against ballistic threats, the community requires a vehicle kit that can be quickly installed and uninstalled while providing a protective barrier for the driver and occupants. The protective armor must not be conspicuous enough, however, to draw attention to the vehicle.
Because of this, Combating Terrorism Technology Support Office (CTTSO) has contracted HazTrain to develop, test, and demonstrate a Field-Installable Inconspicuous Vehicle Armor Kit (FIVAK) that adequately protects operators from small arms fire. The FIVAK kits are adaptable to multiple commercial vehicles commonly found in the Middle East. The materials are designed to be rugged and be capable of performing in a high-heat environment. Installation and removal of the systems is simple enough for field personnel and all tools needed for installation and removal are provided. The system is packaged as an air deployable kit.
